Grief is the emotional suffering you experience as a response to a loss.  You may experience many different types of intense emotions while grieving, or even a lack of emotions, including:

  • Sadness

  • Disbelief

  • Fear

  • Guilt

  • Anger

  • Numbness

  • Loneliness

  • Unbalance

Often times, the most severe type of grief is a result from the death of a loved one.  However, grief can also occur as a result of:

  • Divorce/Breakup

  • Job loss

  • Loss of health

  • Death of a pet

  • Miscarriage

  • Loss of a dream

  • Loved one’s illness

  • Loss of friendship

  • Loss of financial stability

  • Retirement

  • Life transitions

Significant loss shakes our world and causes us to ask ourselves many significant questions.  Who are we?  What is our meaning?  Our purpose?  How do we find our way in this new world without our loved one?  We essentially have to relearn how to live and adjust to a life that will never be the same after our loss.  This is a difficult journey, and talking one-on-one confidentially about your loss can help you process the personal upheaval of grief.
