ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Hello, and welcome.
I’m Brittany, a dedicated therapist with over twelve years experience in helping my clients on their journey towards healing, self-discovery, and growth. With a warm and empathetic approach, I create a safe space for my clients to explore their emotions, fears, and struggles. I focus on providing an affirming and understanding space for clients navigating issues like body image, binge eating disorder, self-esteem, depression, trauma, and anxiety. I am especially passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive environment for neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I love working with my clients to unpack challenges, celebrate strengths, and foster empowerment.
As a late-diagnosed Autistic and ADHD therapist, I bring lived experience and deep empathy to my work. My biggest passion and honor is being able to offer comprehensive, neurodivergent-affirming adult Autism and ADHD evaluations that help clients gain clarity, self-understanding, and validation. My evaluations are collaborative and strengths-based, emphasizing the full spectrum of neurodivergent identity and expression. I view Autism and ADHD as natural neurotypes—not pathologies—and work with clients to deconstruct internalized ableism and embrace their unique ways of being in the world.I recognize that I hold white, middle-class, and cisgender privilege. I also currently hold size privilege, although I lived for many years in a much larger body. These important aspects of my identity have shaped my life experiences and continue to influence the ways in which I practice therapy, as well as the lens I bring from my specialized coursework on the intersectionality of gender, race, and class. I am deeply aware of the ways that societal expectations around gender, relationships, and attraction are shaped by heteronormative and cisnormative frameworks—frameworks that often fail to reflect the lived experiences of those who exist outside of them. I am committed to ongoing antiracist work, recognizing that white supremacy is deeply woven into all systems of oppression, including ableism, fatphobia, and cis-heterosexism. I actively work to unlearn internalized biases, challenge systemic inequities, and center the voices and experiences of Black, Indigenous, and other people of color in both my personal growth and my clinical work. Because of my own lived experiences with misogyny, ableism, and sizeism, I don’t shy away from these topics in therapy—I know they impact mental wellness, and I believe that ignoring them can further harm marginalized people.
Guided by values of gender, sexuality, and racial justice, I am dedicated to dismantling the oppressive systems that affect my clients’ well-being. I believe that true healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it is rooted in both personal and collective efforts to break down social barriers and build spaces that celebrate diverse identities. In my work, I aim to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel seen and valued for who they are. Whether we are working through the complex effects of grief, confronting the weight of societal expectations on body image, or simply navigating daily life as an oppressed person, I see my role as a steadfast ally and partner on each client’s journey.
For clients who struggle with body image and disordered eating, I offer a compassionate approach rooted in Health at Every Size (HAES) principles. I am dedicated to challenging the stigma and systemic biases surrounding body size and weight, helping clients reclaim body autonomy, and promoting a healthy relationship with food and movement. My work emphasizes self-compassion, body respect, and dismantling harmful societal norms, creating a space where individuals of all body sizes can feel affirmed and empowered.
In our work together, my priority is to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in mutual respect and empathy. My therapeutic approach is rooted in a feminist and relational style that aims to individualize your treatment to your specific needs. Together we will explore how your past experiences, both with others and yourself, affect your present. I believe that as most harm occurs in relationship, most healing does as well. Through the relationship that we will form in our work together, you can begin to imagine new possibilities of relating to yourself and others that can help create meaning and fulfillment in your life. I value a genuine, authentic approach that makes you feel safe enough to explore ideas and experiences you may never have shared with anyone. And even though you’re dealing with difficult things, I hold the door open for hope and optimism to enter the process with my light-hearted sense of humor. As Truvy said in Steel Magnolias, “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.”
In my free time, I love going on deep dives into continued education, watching true crime documentaries, and spending restorative time with my two beloved dogs: Bentley the Biewer terrier and Olivia the (naughty) Shih Tzu puppy. While I experience significant disability and burnout at times as an AuDHD woman, I strive to build a meaningful, values-driven life by honoring rest, embracing interdependence, and creating a successful business rooted in authenticity. I enjoy nurturing deeper, more meaningful friendships where I can fully unmask and be myself. By prioritizing connection, rest, and purpose, I sustain my deep love for this work and strive to show others that thriving doesn't require hiding who you are.
“Brittany’s warmth, professionalism, and genuine empathy made all the difference. I felt completely safe and supported during every step of the process. Her clear explanations and the space she created for open dialogue helped me feel calm and understood.”
